Our choreographed masterclasses have been taught, finetuned, re-taught, and teddy-bear-hugged and loved by hundreds and hundreds of adult ballet, jazz, and contemporary dancers. Our students are enamored by our ability to weave original ballet, jazz, and contemporary choreography throughout each non-stop hour of fun! They love the way the choreography in each masterclass builds across its songs and enables us to move continuously throughout the hour. They also love that our TDW masterclasses are choreographed to our favorite pop songs!

Each TDW masterclass is structured to provide students a safe, yet exhilarating total-body workout. Starting with a fun and effective warm-up, each TDW masterclass progresses into a cleverly crafted 4-to-5-song dance cardio arc (part of the TDW secret sauce) which culminates in our electrifying pull-together song! We next delve into "bikini bootcamp," the final 15 minutes of class, where we tackle our choreographed toning exercises before ending the class with a glorious stretch song. It's a dancer's bliss!

Within each 4- to 8-week choreography cycle, our students love coming back again and again to repeat the same masterclass over and over again so they can experience the thrill of fully mastering it before tackling the next one. 

Since each of our masterclasses are named, our instructors and students refer to the classes by name when the post-class chit chat revolves around which masterclasses are their favorites! These discussions are always fun, lively, and heart-warming discussions; and, given our amazing class attendance, we take it as another sign that we've gotten it right!

Our online state-of-the-art instructor certification program was designed to train instructors with outstanding ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance training to redeploy their dance skills to meet the needs and nuances of the adult dance fitness market and consumer. Every TDW-Certified Instructor has received extensive training through our meticulous group fitness training program and has been personally vetted by the Founder and Managers of The Dancer's Workout®. In addition to learning how to memorize our choreography and deliver exhilarating classes, they have also been schooled on best business practices, best advertising practices, best student retention practices, and best leadership practices for this demographic. By hiring a TDW-Certified Instructor, you'll be bringing in a top-notch instructor and business entrepreneur who is highly motivated to catapult your TDW class attendance.  

Our certified instructors know exactly when they should change up the choreography to keep your clients fully engaged and committed to classes. The Instructors pay monthly membership dues to The Dancer's Workout® ADULT DANCE ALLIANCE, which provides them with all the choreographed masterclasses they'll need to keep inspiring your students to come back to class day-after-day, week-after-week, month-after-month, and year-after-year!

There are three ways to find a TDW Instructor for your gym/facility.

1) YOU COULD BE APPROACHED BY A TDW-CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR WHO IS INTERESTED IN TEACHING AT YOUR GYM/FACILITY - This is the fastest way to add The Dancer's Workout® classes onto your schedule, as it means he/she has already received their training and certification and is ready to start teaching right away! If you are approached by a dancer/dance teacher who has received their TDW Instructor certification and who expresses interest in teaching at your studio, move forward quickly with the hire before your competition does! A TDW-Certified Instructor will have proof of their certification, indicating he/she has successfully completed our TDW Instructor Certification requirements. You can rest assured they have been fully vetted and trained by our organization. 

2) YOU COULD REQUEST OUR ASSISTANCE IN IDENTIFYING A TDW-CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR FOR YOUR FACILITY - Simply click HERE and request a TDW-Certified Instructor for your facility. We will either have an Instructor available or we will try to enlist a well-trained dancer to begin our Instructor Certification program so that they can teach at your facility. A one-time finder's fee of $250 will be required for this service (paid in two installments). Your request for our assistance in locating, vetting, and training a qualified instructor should state the hourly rate you intend to pay your instructor once hired and the number of weekly TDW classes you want them to teach at your facility. This information will help expedite our search for your ideal instructor. Once we receive the first installment of your finder's fee ($125), we will initiate the search and provide an instructor who is available to begin teaching at your facility within 6-8 weeks. (If, despite our best efforts, we are unable to locate a suitable instructor within 4 weeks, due to limitations in your geographic area, we will refund the first installment of your finder's fee.) Once we locate a suitable potential instructor for you, you will have the option of interviewing them to make sure they are a good fit. Once approved, your instructor will complete our TDW instructor training and be available to begin teaching classes at your facility within 2-4 weeks. One week prior to the first scheduled TDW class at your facility the second installment of the finder's fee ($125) will be due. Once your instructor is hired, you will be responsible for paying your instructor for teaching your classes. Your instructor will be responsible for paying our monthly dues to maintain their certification and to retain access to the TDW choreography.

3) YOU OR YOUR TEAM COULD IDENTIFY A DANCER WHO IS INTERESTED IN BECOMING A TDW-CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR - If you or someone on your team knows of someone who received a significant amount of training in classical ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance who is interested in teaching for you, this could be a great fit! To move forward, your prospective teacher would need to purchase our certification program and begin the training. While the certification itself can be done in a single 8-hour day, learning the choreography for the first TDW masterclass they will teach will take an additional two weeks. Once certified, the independent instructor will begin paying monthly dues to The Dancer's Workout, LLC in order to maintain his/her certification and license to teach The Dancer's Workout®, and in order to gain access to our portfolio of choreographed classes. By becoming a TDW-Certified Instructor, your new instructor will become licensed to teach at your facility and at gyms, dance studios, community centers, and other fitness facilities. Eligibility

The Dancer’s Workout® requires its instructors to have significant prior training and proficiency in ballet, in addition to an aptitude for jazz and contemporary dance. Both experienced and new instructors with strong ballet technique are encouraged to pursue TDW instructor certification.

Prerequisites

The prerequisite for enrolling in The Dancer's Workout® instructor certification program is related to the potential instructor's technical competency as a dancer, as demonstrated in an introductory video that they will provide to us prior to enrolling in our training and certification  program. Generally, our instructors “grew up” in the dance studio, taking ballet classes (and other forms of dance) multiple days each week, over the course of many years, and therefore they present with a high level of technical competence as a dancer. Our ADULT DANCE ALLIANCE training program, which your instructor will continue to attend throughout the year, continues to augment their TDW certification training with the leadership skills, business skills, and choreography needed to attract, inspire, and retain large groups of clients in the TDW classes at your facility.

Your instructor's TDW Instructor Certification marks the successful completion of their initial training in The Dancer's Workout® ADULT DANCE ALLIANCE program. Our support and guidance doesn’t end there. Your instructor will continue to proceed through our training course where they will focus on the LAUNCH and TAKEOFF modules inside our annual training program. 

Our LAUNCH lessons provide them with the training and guidance they'll need to become an outstanding adult dance fitness provider. They'll receive business tips about how to consistently and reliably present themselves in a professional environment, how to shape the classes to meet the needs of your clients, and how to advertise to bring in new students who will become loyal and frequent class attendees. Our TAKEOFF lessons provide them with the leadership skills and strategies needed to effectively lead large groups of adult dance fitness students so that the enrollment in your classes will grow exponentially and become one of the most sought-after classes on your schedule!

All of the amazing TDW choreography is provided to our certified instructors. The choreography is provided as individual “masterclasses,” which are unique sets of 13 to 16 choreographed songs each that are designed to be taught together in a single one-hour class. The ballet, jazz, and contemporary choreography in each masterclass is choreographed to our favorite/beautiful pop songs and is integrated across songs within a masterclass so that the dancers will be able to move continuously throughout the hour, building upon what they’ve learned as they go.

Each masterclass is named, and your students will get to know and love these masterclasses by name!

At headquarters, we teach one masterclass (over and over again) for 4 straight weeks before moving on to the next one. Most of our certified instructors teach one masterclass (over and over again) for 4 to 8 weeks before moving on to the next one. We don’t dictate the schedule for our instructors – we just make the masterclasses and our instructional guidance available to them so they can decide when to begin teaching your students a new masterclass, based upon the class needs. Our instructors do receive three new masterclasses from us each month (to make sure they have plenty of choreography and plenty of choices); but again, most of them end up teaching one masterclass for 4 to 8 weeks before they introduce a new one. We trust our instructors to adapt to their student base and to roll out our choreography at a pace which meets the needs of the majority.

Our instructors must pay monthly dues to maintain their access to both our choreography and the ADULT DANCE ALLIANCE training program.

Your facility would be responsible for paying your instructor for the classes they teach. You may either hire them as an employee (W2) or as an independent contractor (1099). You establish their rate of pay and their schedule.

If you work at a facility which rents studio space to instructors, another option would be to either rent space to the independent instructor in an arrangement where the instructor would retain all the student revenue or to partner with the instructor to provide free or discounted studio rentals in exchange for some mutually agreed split of the student revenue. (If you partner with the instructor, please note that the most successful times for these classes from an attendance point of view will be weekdays for one hour occurring sometime between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. Lunchtime classes and weekend afternoon classes are a second most successful time for this demographic.)

Some gyms, dance studios, and fitness facilities do require the instructor to have liability insurance in order to teach in their facility – others do not. Our template waiver holds your facility and its employees harmless (as well as The Dancer’s Workout, LLC, The Dancer's Workout, LLC owners, and the TDW-Certified Instructor). Some facilities waive their request for our certified instructors to have liability insurance after reviewing our template waiver. Other facilities have their own waivers which adequately cover liability for themselves, their facility, their instructors, and their brand owners. If your waivers do not cover brand owners (like The Dancer's Workout, LLC), we will require your instructor to ALSO get your students to sign our waiver to protect us as well.

As artists, we feel strongly that songwriters, musicians, and music publishers should be appropriately compensated for their work.

The US Copyright Law¹ specifies that “…the owner or operator of an establishment where music is publicly performed” is required to obtain proper music licenses.” This means that if you own the business and/or the facility, you are responsible for obtaining the required music licenses. On the other hand, if someone simply teaches at your facility or rents space from your facility, they are not personally required by law to obtain the required music licenses.

The Dancer’s Workout, LLC recommends that the owners and operators of an establishment obtain proper music licenses from performing Rights Organizations (PROs), such as ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC, as required by the US Copyright Law. Our assumption is that gyms, dance studios, etc. already have proper music licenses since they likely already offer exercise and/or dance classes that are also subject to these music license requirements.

No, your certified TDW Instructor is not licensed to livestream The Dancer’s Workout® classes, and you are not licensed to livestream our classes. Your TDW-Certified Instructor is only licensed to teach IN-PERSON TDW classes at your facility and at other gyms, dance studios, community centers, and fitness facilities.

Yes. In addition to offering in-person classes, The Dancer’s Workout® offers both on-demand classes and livestreamed classes via Zoom. We have a special app for adult, former dancers who have not been in the studio in years who are interested in starting back to dance slowly (https://bit.ly/TDW-WIZARD). Your clients are welcome to purchase access to our online products, as they wish. Often this is a great way to get a shy, hesitant former dancer feeling comfortable and excited about coming to in-person classes.

We do have a free daily class that you can tell your clients about to help them get excited about the classes that will be offered at your facility. Direct them to this url: https://thedancersworkout.mykajabi.com/register. Our free daily class is the SAME masterclass, over and over again, each day. Eventually they will want more and be ready to dance in-person. That's when they'll come to in-person classes at your facility.

Your TDW-Certified Instructor is authorized to approve or personally post up to two short videos a day (each less than 20 seconds in duration) in FB/Meta and Instagram, as long as The Dancer’s Workout® is tagged in the post. Our handles are below:

Gyms and fitness facilities which hire TDW-Certified Instructors to teach at their facilities do not need a TDW license for The Dancer’s Workout^® classes to be taught on their premises. Dance Studios which rent studio space to a TDW-Certified Instructor also do not require a license for The Dancer’s Workout^® classes to be taught on their premises. On the other hand, Dance Studios and gyms which sponsor their own dance instructors/dancers to become TDW-Certified Instructors must become designated as a TDW-Authorized Studio in order for classes to be taught at their facilities and will immediately receive such designation as soon as one of their employees receives their TDW Instructor Certification.

Gyms and fitness facilities which hire a TDW-Certified Instructor to teach at their facilities do not need to pay TDW for classes taught on their premises – they only need to pay the TDW-Certified Instructor. Dance Studios which rent studio space to a TDW-Certified Instructor are also not required to pay TDW for classes taught on their premises. On the other hand, Dance Studios and gyms which sponsor their own dance instructors/dancers to become TDW-Certified Instructors must purchase an ADULT DANCE ALLIANCE membership, and keep it active, in order for classes to be taught at their studio.
