Meet Brenna

My Story

I am born and raised in NC! I began dancing at 3 years old along with my sister, at a small dance studio in my hometown. Fun fact about me, my father was actually in the military for 30 years, but I am lucky because my family never had to move! I didn’t end up falling in love with dance until I was a teenager when I began to dance competitively. I assisted in teaching dance classes which led to teaching my own classes, which then landed me a job for a few months one summer teaching low-income children dance which I loved!

I took ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, lyrical, and acro. Any chance I got I was in the studio! My ultimate dream was to become a backup dancer. At 16, I began travelling around the U.S. taking dance classes, however, COVID-19 hit when I was 18 and I decided (after some convincing from a friend lol) I would enroll in BA of Dance at UNCG. However… I ended up not enjoying UNCG. It simply was just not the fit for me and after a semester, I decided to drop out. I ended up falling out of love with dance due to a number of things happening as well. From dancing almost 7 days a week to not dancing at all, was extremely heartbreaking for me but it was something I had to do. I had already completed my Associates of Arts at a community college, however, I decided to return to community college and get my Associate degree as a paramedic, which I just graduated with in July 2023! My sister told me about The Dancer's Workout® in early 2023 and said I should try it since she knew I was trying to find a way to get back into dance. I ended up really enjoying the class, even though I was definitely a bit rusty from not having danced in so long, but I loved the refreshing style and environment of the class as well!

What TDW Means to Me

Working in healthcare and specifically as a first responder, it can be extremely tolling and exhausting both mentally and physically at times. The Dancer's Workout® has allowed me to have a safe space to get away and reset from everything with what I have always loved most being dance! Jules and Sara, along with all the other amazing individuals with The Dancer's Workout®, always provide such a friendly, fun, and respectful space to just have fun and dance without any worries! There is no pressure to be “perfect” with The Dancer's Workout®, although I can’t seem to let the perfectionism in me go sometimes, but nevertheless, I am constantly reminded that there is no competition, and everyone is there to just dance and have fun. The Dancer's Workout® to me means a group of inspiring people who think alike and are all there to better our health, mentally and physically, by doing what we love, which is dancing!
