Meet Diahnn

My Story

As a child, I loved dancing and spent countless hours learning choreography from music videos. My siblings, friends, and I would try to replicate the moves from Michael Jackson's iconic "Thriller" and "Beat It" videos, choreographed by the late Peter Michaels.

My dance journey has been a collection of meaningful experiences, starting with two years of ballet and jazz classes in my childhood. As a teenager, I resumed training by taking two years of jazz lessons. Later, in my thirties, I joined the Charisma School of Dance Team in Tacoma, Washington, where I learned jazz, lyrical, tap, and hip-hop. I competed with the team for two years and also made the Pacific Lutheran University Dance Team. During this time, I had the privilege of co-choreographing a hip dance piece for the annual talent showcase and started exploring Prophetic Dance at Saint John's Baptist Church.

Finally, in my forties, I picked up ballroom dancing, where I learned smooth and rhythm dances. I received training from the Arthur Murray Dance Studio of Durham and, most recently, Ballroom U in Cary, NC. I even participated in my first competition, the 2023 XV Annual DC Dance Challenge & Showcase, where I earned the Top Newcomer Bronze Competitor title. Additionally, I earned my Liturgical Dance certificate with the Christ Center for Dance led by Kimberly Brown Phillips while exploring Prophetic Dance.

All in all, my dance journey has been exciting and fulfilling, filled with diverse experiences that have helped me grow both as a dancer and a person.

What TDW Means to Me

I feel honored to be a MAVEN and serve as a role model for women who are getting back into dance. I totally understand how one may feel insecure or hesitant to return to dance, but I encourage you to release those doubts and fears. Let your faith renew your mind and give you the courage to just do it! Now, you might be wondering why get back into dance? Well, let me tell you, the benefits are truly limitless! Dancing is a complete expression of your body, soul, and spirit. It has physical, mental, and emotional benefits that can empower you in so many ways. And the best part? You can dance no matter your age, shape, or size! Dancing also allows us to connect with others in the community. We can learn from each other, lift each other up, and use our gifts to inspire and encourage one another. As a MAVEN, I'm excited to be a part of such a supportive and welcoming community where we can grow together and build lasting friendships and memories.
