TDWÂ MAVENS
Meet Cagny
My Story
I live in Raleigh with my husband and love spending time with my adorable rescue hound Cooper.Â
My love of dance began as a child when my mother enrolled me in classes at a local dance studio in my hometown in Florida. I studied and embraced many forms of dance, from ballet and jazz to tap, and I also took classes in gymnastics. As my studies progressed, I attended dance conventions annually and competed in dance competitions in Orlando, Florida. Selected as a member of my high school dance team, I performed at weekly football games. I have fond memories of rehearsing for and performing in the televised grand opening of Disney-MGM studios in Orlando, along with fellow dancers from my studio.
I continued my dance training at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (now known as Randolph College), graduating with a Dance minor. I had the privilege of studying ballet and modern, with the core technique of Martha Graham. Fortunately, the college’s visiting artist program exposed me to other dance styles and genres. The experience grew my fondness and appreciation for dance as an art form. As I matured, I learned how to use dance as an emotional release through physical expression.
After a long absence, I started dancing again in 2017 when I discovered The Dancer’s Workout®. In addition to being a longstanding dedicated student by attending TDW classes several times a week, I currently serve as the Virtual Curriculum Manager for TDW, helping to ensure that our Zoom students get an outstanding experience with TDW. I’m excited and honored to be selected as a member of the MAVENS and look forward to the organization’s next chapter as it rolls out the new season.Â

What TDW Means to Me
TDW is a home away from home. It is a welcoming and safe place for former dancers to reignite their passion for dance while motivating them to attain or maintain their fitness goals in a supportive environment. It consistently attracts and retains accomplished and intelligent adult women of all ages who share a love for dance and fitness. It is an ideal group to surround yourself with if you want positivity and a place to establish meaningful friendships. Following college, I struggled to find adult dance classes. Years went by, and finally I decided to do another search for adult dance classes, which led me to TDW. Despite my long absence from the studio, I felt comfortable during my first class and was amazed at how it all came back to me. I find the group to be welcoming, friendly, and supportive.
