SCHOLARSHIP

Periodically, as our budget allows, we offer select, well-trained ballet and contemporary dancers a Precious Pearl scholarship and internship opportunity for their training and certification as an adult dance fitness instructor. Our scholarships are awarded to both seasoned instructors and novice instructors who want to become certified to teach The Dancer's Workout®.

If you are a dancer with outstanding ballet and contemporary dance technique, you may qualify for one of our Scholarships and Internships!  

Each PRECIOUS PEARL SCHOLARSHIP provides...

FULL TUITION

Complimentary access to our online dance fitness business and instructor certification course! This is a $495 value (minus our $20 processing fee)! Proceed through the certification modules of our online course (Modules 1, 2, and 3), participate in our scheduled practice-teaching sessions, and submit your certification materials by the deadline below to become a certified instructor with The Dancer's Workout®!

NO MEMBERSHIP DUES REQUIRED UNTIL 2026!

Typically, once certified, our instructors begin teaching The Dancer's Workout® (TDW) in the cities of their choice and begin paying monthly dues of $25/month. (Their monthly dues are required to maintain TDW certification and to continue receiving access to all the choreography needed to teach these classes.) Precious Pearl Scholarship recipients, however, are exempt from paying monthly dues until 2026! This will enable you to use this dues-free time to establish your own TDW classes while retaining ALL of your student revenue! 

Fine print if you are not yet a graduating senior:  Your monthly dues will be waived while you are still enrolled in your university dance program
Fine print for everyone: Monthly dues are no longer required if you decide to discontinue teaching The Dancer's Workout® and forfeit your certification

Your PRECIOUS PEARL INTERNSHIP provides...

PRACTICE TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES

After completing Modules 1-3 of the online course, join our practice teaching sessions with our existing Raleigh students! You'll first participate in our semi-private practice teaching sessions where you will practice-teach two songs out of a 14-song masterclass. That will help prepare you to teach those two songs LIVE, in our in-person student classes! To start, we'll cover the rest of the songs in the set so you can focus on your first two songs! As the internship progresses, we'll add additional songs to your plate.  All of this reinforcement will help prepare you to teach your first TDW class all by yourself!

COURSE ACCESS AND BEGINNING OF SCHOLARSHIP PERIOD

Within 72 hours of scholarship/internship award notification

Once you have access to the online course, you can immediately begin going through the lessons in Modules 1-3, or you can wait until after graduation - your choice! No matter when you start, you need to complete all 13 lessons contained in Modules 1-3 by May 31, 2025. It will take approximately 10-12 hours

INTERNSHIP DETAILS 

DATES

The Internship for your practice-teaching activities will occur over a two-week period and you can attend both weeks or only one, depending upon your availability. The specific dates and times of the internship training are as follows:

Week 1: June 2 and 3, 2025
Week 2: June 9 and 10, 2025

Classes will be held on those days from 5:45 pm - 6:45 pm
We will need you to arrive by 5:00 pm on these days and we will be finished by 7:00 pm

 The studio address for your internship/practice teaching is TDS-Space, 2603 South Miami Blvd, Durham, NC
