TDW MAVENS
Meet Margo
My Story
I’ve been dancing most of my life. When I was a wee lass, I had a wonderful experience during the Joffrey Ballet for three seasons of the Nutcracker, which laid the foundation to my lifelong love of dancing. But when I got older, my body changed and ballet became more difficult, the classes more demanding and strenuous. So I tried other styles of dance, including modern and belly dance. I kept coming back to ballet, partially out of obligation to my childhood memory and partially because I still found it so beautiful.
After many years of taking all kinds of dance classes into my adulthood, I was struck down by a severe case of Lyme Disease. Going through the difficult treatment, and mostly confined to my bed, dancing was impossible. I would sometimes daydream of choreography in my head, but I turned my back on it, because knowing I couldn’t bring the movements to life was torture.
Having just started dancing again, I realized how much my soul, body, and spirit missed this sacred movement, but only because of the fun atmosphere and Jules’ wonderful choreography I found in her class.
What TDW Means to Me
After a short period of finally starting to feel better after two years of being sick, I got the confidence to take Jules’ class again. It felt amazing, and I had so much fun. But for four days afterwards, I could barely move. I reached out to Jules, explaining my predicament and disappointment, not believing I was strong enough to rejoin the dance world.
But Jules had another option for me! With great supportive energy, she encouraged me to try the online LOST LOVE RECOVERY PROGRAM FOR FORMER DANCERS. For 21 days, I danced little by little, at my own pace, in the comfort of my own home. This program gave me the support I needed to have the courage to make it back to class again. I eventually rejoined the class in person, and couldn’t believe all the fun I had! I could DO this.
TDW is beauty and revelry through movement, a celebration of femininity, fellowship with other dancers, and an attainable level of dance fitness, leading to health and wellness for my body, mind, and soul. I feel strongly this is the right place for me as a dancer.
