TDW MAVENS

Meet Kim

My Story

Dance honestly made me who I am today. Although I didn’t start dancing until I was 12, it helped me develop socially and become more outgoing and confident. I had always been a shy kid and preferred the company of books over being around people, but getting into the performing arts gave me an outlet.

When I was 14, I auditioned for Boston Arts Academy, the first and only performing arts high school in Boston, MA. What felt like a long shot turned into an acceptance that would continue to fuel my love of dance, theater, and visual arts for the rest of my life. As an inner-city kid, the arts provided invaluable exposure to diverse cultures and people that I may never have received otherwise. I had the opportunity to learn from and dance with professionals across dance genres and perform on stages I'd paid to see others on. Me, the shy bookworm!

I continued dancing throughout college and have met some amazing artists along the way, like Jules.

For me, dancing makes me feel like all's right with the world at the moment when I’m moving and counting and just focusing on the now. All of this to say, I’m not myself without dance in my life.

What TDW Means to Me

The Dancer’s Workout means a community of passionate and dance-minded people who come to class with one thing in mind… to move! TDW is a chance to do what I love in a safe space, and there is so much peace that comes with that. You may join a class stressed, tired, or feeling down, but by the time you leave, you’re taking nothing but sweat and smiles with you.
