TDW MAVENS

Meet Deidre

My Story

My mom always jokes that I 'came out dancing' and it was obvious early on that I loved to perform. I grew up inside the ballet studio and my life greatly revolved around my dance schedule. Growing up, we moved every 4 years and a dance studio was the one familiar thing I always had to come 'home' to. Around 14 I was struggling with chronic pain in my knee and it forced me to slow down and think more about what else I loved to do. I knew I wanted to be a professional makeup artist and at 18 it once again led me across the country.

It's been four years running my full time hair and makeup business for film, commercials and TV and I can honestly say I have the most amazing job out there!

When I'm not working on faces or getting sweaty in the dance studio, I spend my time with my furrfamily. If there's any extra time to spare I try and go adventuring through the woods, kayaking down a stream or making pottery on the wheel.

What TDW Means to Me

After dancing for 15 years of my life, I found myself dance-less once graduating high school. My knee injury never went away and made it difficult to continue with anything more serious. I had tried to find adult friendly classes but never wanted to put on a leotard ever again. I did belly dancing, barre, pilates and ballroom dancing but my heart was always missing a little piece.

Fast forward to finding the TDW page on Google and remembered what it was I was missing. The whole concept of TDW was made for dancers like me.. ones who loved to dance but couldn't quite find the right avenue as an adult. The classes are fun, challenging and fill that void I had been missing for 10 years. I only wish I had found it sooner!
