Meet Juliana

My Story

I started taking ballet and tap classes when I was just 5 years old, and I fell in love with dancing. I had a flair for the dramatic from a young age, so dance became a great outlet for me to express myself as I was growing up in Connecticut. I started dancing competitively when I was 8 years old, and dance became my whole world outside of school. I took a break from competitive dance during middle school and early high school to focus on doing musical theater for a while, but I realized my junior year of high school that it wasn’t as great as my love for dance. I joined a dance company at a different studio and was exposed to so many different and new genres of dance, including modern, afro jazz, and contemporary and got to dive back into my old favorites: jazz and tap. In college I decided again to take a break from a time intensive dance schedule. However, I kept dance in my life through club dance groups. Once I graduated college, I moved to Raleigh and had a tough time finding the right fit for a dance class that was both challenging and non competitive. After 3 years of no consistent dancing, I stumbled on The Dancer’s Workout and had found what I had been searching for!

What TDW Means to Me

TDW has become my creative outlet in adulthood. I feel so thankful that TDW has come into my life and has embraced my excitement about getting back into dance! I love getting to share my passion for dance with other dancers in a safe, and non competitive environment. Everyone is so kind and welcoming, which makes the transition back to dance feel less daunting. I am so happy to be dancing again!
