TDW MAVENS

Meet Rachel

My Story

When I started taking dance classes at TDW at the age of 41 in January 2024, I was unhealthy and lacked confidence. I had not consistently taken any type of dance class in close to 20 years. I had difficulty even getting up off the floor. I was embarrassed and scared, but I kept coming back because I was fed up with longing for change without actually doing anything different. Plus, everyone at TDW truly made me feel welcome and supported.

As a child, teenager, and college student, dance was an important part of my life. Then came law school, a new career, marriage, and my daughter. All of these stages have been beautiful, but something was missing - the joy I only feel when I’m dancing. Now, every week I take time away from the day-to-day grind to reengage with my passion for dance. My dancing has improved. I feel more attractive. I have a more positive mood, and I love that my daughter sees me taking care of myself.

What TDW Means to Me

I’m grateful to TDW for providing me the chance to feel the joy of dance again. When the responsibilities of life become overwhelming, TDW dance class is a place where I can be free. I’m too busy dancing to think about work stress or other worries. I envision myself years from now still dancing, and I am proud of that person. Thank you to the TDW community, and especially to Jules and Sara, for seeing my potential and believing in me.
